The World Bank is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Country Officer based in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The World Bank has set two ambitious goals to push extreme poverty to no more 3 percent by 2030, and to promote shared prosperity and greater equity in the developing world.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Country Officer will perform the following functions-
- The Country Officer will take a substantive role in portfolio monitoring, including working with the Government and Bank teams to identify and resolve cross-cutting and systemic implementation issues, promote synergies and foster GP collaboration across the portfolio.
- The Country Officer will help CM coordinate Country Portfolio Performance Reviews (CPPRs) and Country Partnership Strategy Progress Report (CPSPR). S/he will carry out research on projects and program information/data, and draw lessons from performance to enhance the quality of individual projects under preparation and for inclusion in the CPS.
- Under the overall guidance of the CM and SCO, the Country Officer will provide input to the yearly business planning and budgeting process.
- Under the supervision of the CM and in close cooperation with the SCO as well as Country Management team in the Headquarters, the Country Officer would prepare a range of key reports and management briefs on the Kazakhstan Program.
- The Country Officer will maintain regular relations and communications on portfolio and program issues with Government at the technical level, ensuring timely and relevant information flows to key government counterparts.
- Together with the CM, the Country Officer will promote effective coordination among a range of active donors.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field/discipline (Economics, Public Policy, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering or other related discipline).
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant and progressive development policy and operational experience, combined with a good knowledge of World Bank strategic directions.
- Substantial knowledge of key Bank Group operational policies and procedures, and relevant experience in Bank portfolio management.
- Proven analytical and problem solving-skills with strong result orientation, and proven ability to apply these in carrying-out operational tasks, assessing inter-relationships of sector, macro-economic and country strategies, and presenting findings and recommendations.
- Strong client orientation and inter-personal skills with proven ability to work cooperatively with multi-disciplinary country teams, all levels of staff and managers, and development partners.
- Proven Ability to juggle diversity of tasks within a demanding environment, and work under pressure when necessary.
- Proven ability to function in a politically sensitive environment that requires sound judgment, superior understanding of communications issues, and excellent interpersonal/diplomatic skills.
- Strong oral and written communications skills including the ability to speak and write persuasively, and to draft reports and briefs for management.
