Applications are open for 2016 Grant cycle
The Global Fund for Women aims at advancing the rights of women and girls worldwide by increasing their resources and investing in women-led organizations and women’s collective leadership for change. The Fund envisions a sustainable world in which women and girls have resources, voice, choice and opportunities to realize their human rights. The fund intended to provide 500 grants annually.
By now, the Global Fund for Women has made a total of 10,021 grants for $120,883,544.59 to 4,776 organizations in 175 countries.
Critical Areas of Interest
- Zero Violence – The goal is to end gender based violence. The organization fund and advocate for women’s and girls’ participation, empowerment, and peace building while challenging laws, policies, cultures and behavior that perpetuates discrimination, violence and abuse.
- Economic and Political Empowerment – The goal is to make all women economically secure and independent and support by policies ensuring women’s and girls’ equal rights to resources, livelihoods and political voice.
- Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights – The goal is to make women and girls free to make their own reproductive and sexual choices. Sexual and reproductive health services and information are readily available.
Grants Available
Grants ranges from $5,000 to $30,000 per year for operating and project expenses.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a group of women working together.
- The group should be governed, directed, and led by women.
- Groups do not need to be registered non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to qualify for funding.
- The primary focus of the group should be in advancing women’s equality and human rights.
- The group should not be based in USA.
How to Apply
- The application process is open once in a year.
- To submit your project read the guidelines and submit the project proposal online.
- Applications can also be sent via email, fax or postal address provided on the website.
