The Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Human Resources Officer based in New York, USA.
OHRM is responsible for implementing the vision of the Secretary-General for an integrated Global Secretariat, with a multi-skilled, versatile, high-performing and mobile workforce that operates across disciplines to fulfill the Organization’s complex and interrelated mandates in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Human Resources Officer will perform the following functions-
- Plan and organise weekly meetings of the CRC and the CRP.
- Provide training to members of CR Bodies in NY and other duty stations as required, as well as managers on the staff selection system, including its electronic support tool, inspira.
- Contribute to planning activities and the delivery of services of the Global Central Review Bodies (GCRB), for job networks that transition into the managed Mobility and Career Development Framework in 2016.
- Advise departments and offices or teams in the Office of Human Resources Management responsible for respective job networks under the managed mobility framework of the outcome of the meetings, follow up with recommendations of CR Bodies and ensure their implementation.
- Plan and coordinate establishment of the membership of the CRC and CRP, and provide input into planning and the establishment of the membership of the GCRB.
- Supervise two assistants, coach and develop them.
- Keep statistics on activities of CR Bodies and the outcome of selection decisions, and provide relevant reports as requested.
- Keep abreast in the field of human resources management in the Organization. The incumbent will assist the Chief of the CRB Secretariat in – monitoring and ensuring consistency in the functioning of CR Bodies in the global Secretariat, in particular with regard to application of policies and procedures.
- Reviewing existing rules of procedure of CR Bodies and proposing changes as necessary.
- Represent the CRB Secretariat in various meetings, as appropriate. The incumbent will assist SPSD and OHRM in organisational efforts of developing new policies, procedures and guidelines to meet the evolving needs of the Organization and monitor their implementation, particularly with respect to the staff selection system or the managed mobility framework, in accordance with the Charter and relevant mandates of the General Assembly.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree) in public or business administration, human resources management or related area.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management or related area.
- Experience in staffing is desirable.
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
- For this post, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
- Knowledge of French is desirable.
- Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
