The Amnesty International (AI) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of International Development Accountant in London, UK.
The International Development Accountant works with the International Finance Manager as a point of liaison for those overseas entities that are supported financially by the International Secretariat (IS).
The AI’s global campaign is to change the lives of those suffering human rights abuses.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The International Development Accountant will perform the following functions-
- Monitoring of grant payments schedule and preparation of payment requests.
- Ensure sections’ compliance with financial elements of grant conditions.
- Support Management Accounts & Analysis team with grant reporting and ad hoc financial information for internal stakeholders.
- Support senior decision makers to make section grant decisions.
- Grant and loan requests.
- Annual financial reports (including supporting local staff to ensure completed accurately and to a high standard).
- Audit reports and management letters of sections, including identification of risk areas.
- Internal controls, policies and procedures.
- Financial elements of grant and loan agreements.
- Plan and deliver Finance Skill share events with support from other team members (may involve international travel).
- Provide financial capacity building to Sections on a reactive and proactive basis. This involves providing financial guidance / support and developing tools that can be used to improve the financial management in Sections.
- Finance support for new national offices in Indonesia and Nigeria.
- Support the Central Finance team during audit on all queries relating to grants.
- Support on global finance projects.
- Ad hoc project work to support the International Finance Team as required.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- ACA (or equivalent qualification).
- Degree 2:1 or above (or equivalent qualification).
- Strong experience in financial analysis and interpreting data.
- Practical experience of reporting and interpreting reports.
- Experience of working with finance functions of small international offices.
- Experience in training and coaching finance skills.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel & PowerPoint).
- A background in audit is desirable.
- Additional language (ideally French or Spanish).
- First class communication and influencing skills with people of different teams, levels and countries.
- Professional conduct at all times in terms of dealing with stakeholders, internally and externally.
- Problem solving skills, where the problem may be identified by this post holder, by IS or Section colleagues, or by external auditors or consultants.
- Well organized, efficient and resourceful – takes pride in the organization and in their work, and delivers quality results to agreed deadlines.
