The 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21/CMP11) starts from 30th of this month (November) in France and over 40,000 participants are going to attend and witness a new international agreement on climate change. Civil society is expected to play a critical role in the outcome of this conference.
With less than 2 weeks to go for this conference, we take a look at the availability of funding opportunities for NGOs in the area of environmental conservation. Environment continues to top the agenda of various donors and a vast number of opportunities are currently open to apply for.
Environmental donors around the world have been active throughout the year with new funding announcements from time to time to support projects addressing environmental issues.
We have compiled a PDF listing open grant opportunities seeking proposals for projects and fellowships. This document covers information about a foundation that believes in supporting NGOs to protect environment through ‘purchase of land’ approach so that the local communities own and protect endangered areas. Another foundation that provides step-by-step funding based on partnership. As the duration of partnership increases with this foundation, your chances of receiving more funding also increases.
You can also check out a grant opportunity which supports your organization in organizing workshops and conferences. The grant also allows covering staff salaries. Humboldt Foundation’s International Climate Protection Fellowships for Leaders in Developing Countries is also covered in this document.
With nearly 19 active grants now open, there is no limit to funding in this area. If your organization is keen to continue its conservation efforts, you should check this document out.
