Amnesty International (AI) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Junior Translator in Madrid, Spain. The duration for the post is of 2 months.
The Junior Translator will take care of translation assignments, using a good knowledge of AI translated content, and apply the editorial procedures and rules established by the coordinator of the language team.
The AI’s global campaign is to change the lives of those suffering human rights abuses.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Junior Translator will perform the following functions-
- Translate some short texts as assigned by the Coordinator of the language team, ensuring quality and consistency with established style of Amnesty International Spanish material (including mainstreaming of gender and diversity in language work).
- Project manage the translation of other texts including preparing texts for translation, liaising with freelance translators to deliver the work and interacting with relevant LRC colleagues and other colleagues in the various teams involved in producing the content.
- Support in-house colleagues to upload translated material to amnesty.org.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Experience of organizing one’s own work without supervision, and reporting on progress to the line manager.
- Understanding of the importance of time management, including prioritizing, meeting deadlines, informing relevant people of delays as soon as possible.
- Excellent writing and editing skills across different media.
- Native Spanish speaker and fluent in English essential.
- Translation skills with a focus on human rights language and experience of translating Amnesty International texts in particular.
- Knowledge of Trados Studio.
- Commitment to work as part of one of the language teams within the LRC team.
