International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Research Assistant/Senior Research Assistant in Cairo, Egypt. The duration for the post is of 1 year.
The Research Assistant/Senior Research Assistant will work with senior research staff in spatial data collection, GIS data processing, spatial data analysis, and other research support activities related to the work of the Egypt SSP (including assisting with literature reviews, drafting reports and research papers, and capacity building and outreach activities).
The mission of IFPRI is to provide research-based policy solutions that sustainably reduce poverty and end hunger and malnutrition.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Research Assistant/Senior Research Assistant will perform the following functions-
- Collect and analyze spatial data.
- Build and maintain spatial databases.
- Conduct literature reviews and synthesis.
- Assist in drafting reports and research papers.
- Assist in capacity building and outreach activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or closely related fields.
- Senior Research Assistant level, a Master’s degree in Economics or related field is required.
- Experience with spatial data processing and ARCGIS.
- Excellent analytical mind and drafting skills.
- Demonstrated fluency in written and spoken English.
- Demonstrated fluency in written and spoken Arabic.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and to work in a team-oriented multi-cultural environment.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task as needed, consistently meet deadlines and manage time well.
- Demonstrated professional level of attention to detail and accuracy of work.
- Ability to work independently and with initiative.
- Willingness to travel within Egypt.
- Familiarity with popular software packages & Internet-based systems.
- Master’s degree or its equivalent in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or closely related fields.
- Familiarity with the literature on agriculture, rural development and poverty reduction.
- Experience with online mapping software and systems.
