International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Communications and Publishing Assistant in Hague, Netherlands.
The primary area of responsibility of Communications and Publishing Assistant will be in the editing, preparation, support and implementation of IFLA’s various web-based communications, including social media, video and photos.
The IFLA is the leading international body representing the interests of library and information services and their users.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Communications and Publishing Assistant will perform the following functions-
- To undertake web-based communications, including the editing and creation of content, in line with the IFLA Communications Plan.
- To create and edit media-rich content for the IFLA website, including video and graphics.
- To undertake the reorganization of content on IFLA’s website, including the archiving of material and creation of new metadata.
- To support IFLA’s social media activities, in line with the IFLA Communications Plan.
- To generate usage data and other metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of communications campaigns, both for the website and social media.
- To assist with the production of printed material, as required.
- To support communications activities at the IFLA World Library and Information Congress.
- To provide awareness, training and support on the use of specific communications tools, both to IFLA staff and the external network of volunteer web editors.
- To provide support and backup for the IFLA repository and other content-based platforms.
- Other duties, as required by the Communications Officer or Manager, Member Services.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Full competency in using Content Management Systems, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, Vimeo, Google Analytics and other relevant software.
- Full competency in the use of social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, WordPress and other relevant platforms.
- Basic skills in a design package such as InDesign.
- Excellent editorial and communications skills.
- Complete fluency in English, particularly written English.
- Good knowledge of the library and information sector.
- Good team working abilities.
