International Organization for Migration (IOM) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Head, Migrants Assistance Division in Geneva, Switzerland. The duration for the post is of 1 year.
The responsibility of the Migrants Assistance Division such as Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) and Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants including Counter-trafficking.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Head, Migrants Assistance Division will perform the following functions-
- Establish and promote policy guidelines in areas under the responsibility of the Migrants Assistance division, and in particular in the areas of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) and Special Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants, including Counter- trafficking.
- Provide leadership on IOM’s dialogue with governments, strategic partners and civil society in order to strengthen IOM’s position in Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration as well as Protection and Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants such as Counter-trafficking and Unaccompanied Migrant Children.
- Provide leadership on the internal dialogue through analysis of IOM’s global experience and trends and through strategy development for the future.
- Act as Advisor to the senior management of the Organization on strategic and programmatic issues related to all aspects of AVRR and Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants programs, including regional outreach matters.
- Provide guidance and support to ROs and missions through ongoing dialogue and updates of relevant guidance notes.
- Be responsible for strengthening the consistency and quality of IOM activities globally through assurance of implementation of guidelines.
- Be responsible for ensuring consistent reporting on activities within the Division’s responsibilities.
- Provide overall direction and guidance to the AVRR Unit and Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants Unit and ensure coordination of the work of the Division with other Divisions in DMM.
- Identify, promote and foster strategic and technical partnerships globally in the areas of AVRR and Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants.
- Manage the Division’s human and financial resources.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree in Migration, International Relations, Social Sciences.
- Business/Public Administration or a related field from an accredited academic institution with ten years of relevant professional experience.
- University degree in the above fields with twelve years of relevant professional.
- Experience and proven skills in working on return and reintegration, counter trafficking and vulnerable migrants or respective migration management issues.
- Experience in and extensive knowledge of project development and management.
- Experience in liaison with governmental and diplomatic authorities as well as with national and international institutions.
- Excellent drafting, communication, negotiation and public speaking skills; solid diplomatic skills.
- Effective resource management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, train and motivate staff in a multicultural team
- Good level of computer literacy.
- Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Spanish or French is an advantage.
