The World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Insurance Associate based in New Delhi, India.
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations’ system.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Insurance Associate will perform the following functions-
- Staff Health Insurance related tasks:
- Ensures that SHI claims are recorded in control sheet(s) maintained for the purpose. Monitors and provides periodic status reports to supervisor(s).
- Maintaining confidentiality scrutinizes SHI claims & receipted invoices and verifies that the claims have been entered in the system Health Insurance Input System (HIIS) for reimbursement in accordance with prevailing SHI rules; ensures that all required documents are correct and included with claims for enabling reimbursement. Ensures that claims are entered/processed accurately in a timely manner with appropriate codes and currencies.
- Tactfully liaises with health service providers where considered necessary to discreetly discuss bills or other issues related to SHI matters/claims.
- Recommends to the Insurance Officer (BFO) cases to be taken up with the Global Standing Committee, assists Insurance Officer with case documentation, collects background information and documents, briefs, and files; assists Insurance Officer in follow-up actions. Also refers claims (with appropriate supporting documentation) exceeding thresholds to the Medical Adviser at HQ for approvals, e.g., Physiotherapy, speech therapy & psychotherapy claims.
- Prepares SHI letters, certificates, drafts comments/correspondence; prepares payment vouchers.
- Briefs staff and participants, answers queries about reimbursement; provides briefing and debriefing to SHI participants.
- Calculates and prepares break period, Leave without Pay (LWOP) contribution and ensures recovery through Clearance Certificates or Payroll Standing Transactions (PST) as applicable.
- Discreetly responds to queries from Health Insurance participants across the SEA Region.
- Plans work priorities and guides fellow colleagues in SHI sub-unit. Co-ordinates with Global Service Center (GSC), HQ, WCOs and technical units on SHI reimbursements of claims and hospital bills.
- Replaces other BFU Associates during their absence. Performs any other SHI-related tasks, as assigned by the supervisors.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Secondary school education with specialization in budgeting and accounting.
- Training in computer applications including excel. Degree/Diploma for studies in Accounting.
- At least 6 years’ of progressively responsible experience in finance and accounting.
- 3 or more years as Accounts Assistant in UN or comparable international Organization.
- WHO only considers higher educational qualifications obtained from an accredited institution.
- Knowledge of principles of accountancy and information technology for quick and correct information from financial data base.
- Knowledge of ‘Excel’ spreadsheets and application of excel skills as applied to data generated from the GSM.
- Thorough in-depth knowledge of WHO financial rules and regulations, manual provisions, WHO’s awards end to end financial procedures and guidelines.
- Proficiency in the use of modern office software packages such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.) and standard office equipment. Good working knowledge of GSM (or other Oracle-based ERP systems) is desirable.
