The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of National Area Coordinator, based in Erbil, Iraq.

Key Job Responsibilities
The National Area Coordinator will perform the following functions-
- Provide advice and support to the technical staff working with Projects.
- Monitor and report on the development of implementation of Projects.
- Preparation of accurate and timely reports on the progress of project activities in Ninewah with specific focus on the indicators achieved, timely delivery and funds utilized.
- Preparation of work plans, monitoring and reporting on project achievements.
- Provide and /or develop inputs for annual work plans.
- Compile narrative reports for submission to donor partners.
- Provide technical inputs into Projects on different thematic areas.
- Liaising with all key national and international stakeholders – key domestic political and civic actors, civil society organizations, international NGOs, UN partners, donors.
- Maintain a strong relationship with the local authorities of Ninewah (based in Erbil, Dohuk or elsewhere) and identify areas for UNDP assistance, in line with the FFIS program manager and ICRRP program manager.
- Provide advice and assistance in data collection to establish baselines to monitor progress.
- Support the design of interventions through provision of accurate information and risk analysis on the ground and utilizing lessons learned.
- Conduct research to assist in the development of concept notes, project documents and policy frameworks and project activities as directed by the supervisor.
- Organize, facilitate, conduct, attend workshops and consultations as necessary.
- Perform other work-related outputs as requested by the program manager including administrative and logistical work.
- Work closely with Ninewah local authorities (in Erbil, Dohuk or elsewhere) to support their institutional development and capacity building.
- Assist in translating, drafting production of information and publicity materials and sharing of correspondence and taking notes on meetings as required.
- Coordinate the implementation of project activities for FFIS in Ninewah. If requested, provide coordination support for Ninewah interventions to other UNDP projects such as Iraq Crisis Response and Resilience Project (ICRRP).
- Coordinate with all relevant stakeholders, including engagement with senior Government Officials, for the execution and implementation of Project in Ninewah.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s with min 2 years of relevant experience or Bachelor with min 4 years of relevant experience. in humanitarian development related disciplines, economics or any other relevant social science fields.
- With Master’s degree minimum of 2 years or Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 4 years of extensive coordination and development experience that combines intellectual, strategic and managerial leadership in development programmes.
- Extensive working experience in Development or crisis response programmes in KRG or Erbil will be an asset. Proven ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams in a multilateral work environment.
- Track record with of successful programme management preferably within the UN.
- Functionally-related professional management skills.
- Ability to plan and prioritise work activities to meet organizational goals and organize and oversee work processes efficiently to achieve quality results.
- Knowledge of strategic planning processes, programming.
- Fluency in English and Arabic language required.
- Kurdish language will be an added advantage.
- Experience from previous UN assignments and/or multilateral organizations and bi-lateral aid organizations would be an asset.
- Female candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of Results Based Management methodologies would be an asset.
- Knowledge of ATLAS and PeopleSoft would be an asset though not required.
