United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Finance Associate in El-Fasher, Sudan. The duration for the post is of 5 months.
The Finance Associate will report directly to the Support Services Officer of UNAMID – ODO, and shall work in close collaboration with the Programme staff.

Key Jobs Responsibility
The Finance Associate will perform the following functions-
- Administration and implementation of operational strategies.
- Budgetary and monitoring control.
- Treasury functions.
- Accounting support.
- Financial reporting and control.
- Supervisory role and facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing.
- Full compliance with UNOPS rules and regulations of financial processes, financial records and reports and audit follow up; implementation of the effective internal control framework.
- Elaboration of the content of internal Standard Operating Procedures in Finance in consultation with the direct supervisor and office management.
- Review and confirmation of appropriateness of operational transactions processed through the interpretation and determination of applicable policies, regulations, rules.
- Review of payment requests for completeness prior to processing, ensuring that documentation needed is complete and that all required procedures are fulfilled to enable the payment.
- Maintenance and control of petty cash fund and preparation of report for replenishment.
- Frequent contact with the local bank to obtain day-to-day information on rates of exchange, interest rates, changes in procedures and bank regulations, etc.
- Payment processing.
- Application of accounts receivables.
- Pay cycle manager for ODO’s bank accounts.
- Opening/closing/replenishment of petty cash accounts.
- Replenishment of the Impress accounts.
- Preparation and review of vouchers and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, compliance with UNOPS Financial Rules and Regulations and correctness of account code charges.
- Entry of transactions and financial data in UNOPS ERP (ATLAS) system.
- Preparation of bank reconciliation report. Review for discrepancies and action as required. Analysis of reports, investigation and preparation of adjustment as required.
- Communication with colleagues/clients on areas requiring verification, corrections, additional information, etc. to improve quality of output and/or account submission and increase knowledge base in the process.
- Preparation of statistical reports on workflow/processes.
- Review UNAMID fuel invoices and make sure the cost recovery from the contractors processed on time as required.
- Process Operations advances, follow up and clear on time.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A High School diploma plus a minimum of 7 years of working experience in the relevant field. Alternatively a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or other relevant field and 3 years of experience in a related field is an advantage, but not a requirement.
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience is required in financial management or related area.
- Previous experience reconciling financial accounts required.
- Proven experience in managing cash replenishment with banks, petty cash and reconciliations required.
- Past experience in managing payroll and accounting for personnel payments is required.
- Previous experience and proficiency in MS Office and related applications.
- Knowledge and experience in financial forecasting is considered an asset.
- Proven experience in performing a variety of specialized activities related to financial resources management, including formulating budgets, maintaining Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables, making transactions, reporting is highly desirable.
- Experience in UNOPS or other UN ERP systems is considered an asset; knowledge of UNOPS Financial Rules and Regulations shall be highly desirable.
- Written and oral fluency in English and Arabic.
