World Vision (WV) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Risk Specialist in United States. The duration for the post is of 2 years.
The Risk Specialist helps establish a united front in the face of attacks on World Vision’s reputation, monitors risk events and serves on the Global Center incident management team for individual risk events such as child protection issues, whistle blower incidents etc.
World Vision’s mission is to promote human transformation, seek justice and bear witness to the good news of the Kingdom of God.
Key Job Responsibility
The Risk Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Lead the response to specific global crises and reputation risk incidents as they arise: convene and lead the crisis team in accordance with crisis protocols; work with NO, RO, SO and GC leaders to develop and implement responses.
- Maintain WVI’s global crisis communications plan, ensuring the Partnership has clear, effective and up-to-date procedures in place for facing potential organizational reputation crises.
- Oversee training of new leaders, spokespeople and communications staff in crisis communications response. Train staff on how to develop their own national plans including use of Ethics Point.
- Maintain a register of crisis and risk incidents and develops lessons learned.
- Serve as a member of relevant Global Communications Tiger Team(s).
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.
- Five to seven years in a crisis and issues management role.
- Understanding of World Vision’s ministry and issues including children, poverty, relief, sustainable development, donor engagement and food aid.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to win the confidence of a broad range of different stakeholders.
- Understanding of media, its likely interests, demands and expectations.
- Good understanding of private, public and institutional donors, as well as other partners, and their expectations and needs for information during a crisis.
- Experience of working in cross-cultural environments, sensitivity to multicultural social, religious and gender issues.
- Strong analytical skills, able to clearly assess and evaluate issues and alternative approaches.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Familiarity with general legal concepts such as confidentiality, liability, contractual obligations etc.
- Experience working with lawyers for legal advice and counsel.
- Ability to maintain professional composure and able to operate in stressful situations.
- High commitment to confidentiality.
- Global experience preferred.
- Experience in a variety of World Vision contexts (NO, RO, SO, GC) preferred.
