World Vision (WV) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Preparedness Officer in Geneva, Switzerland. The duration for the post is of 2 years.
The Preparedness Officer will focus upon providing both direct and indirect capacity building support to coordination platforms and clusters.

Key Jobs Responsibility
The Preparedness Officer will perform the following functions-
- Providing technical support on scanning, reviewing and analyzing countries at risk.
- Ensure engagement with the inter-agency Early Warning Early Action (EWEA) processes; informing the inter-agency task team of WASH preparedness in target countries and implementing recommended preparedness actions in countries of EWEA.
- Support the development of National Disaster Management Plan by holding consultations, conducting research and drafting the document.
- Contribute to learning and human resource development in the field of disaster risk reduction. Conduct training courses for INGOs on WASH preparedness.
- Identification of training centers / private sector to include key training on leadership / coordination /management.
- Identify requirements, desires for capacity building, trainings, and workshops of the coordination platform or cluster stakeholders where appropriate.
- Conduct surveys to determine the types of emergency-related needs that will need to be addressed in disaster planning, or provide technical support to others conducting such surveys.
- Review emergency plans of individual organizations in order to ensure their adequacy.
- Keep informed of activities or changes that could affect the likelihood of an emergency, as well as those that could affect response efforts and details of plan implementation.
- Actively work towards the achievement of the FST Strategic Direction, objectives and measurable impact.
- Abide by and work in accordance with Humanitarian principles and technical standards, behavior and code of conduct.
- Perform any other work related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager (FST Manager / CAST, Geneva).
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Degree, or relevant combination of qualifications and experience, social sciences, institutional development, political science, international studies, water or sanitation engineering or related field.
- A master’s degree is desirable but not essential.
- Minimum five years field management experience in emergency humanitarian contexts with a track record of success in this field.
- Understanding the development of capacity building programs, training and coaching.
- A good understanding of the humanitarian policy environment including current knowledge of the latest policies, research, international standards and developments in the field in the humanitarian sector.
- Proven ability to conceptualize, develop, plan monitor and evaluate programmes, as well as to teach skills and build team capacity.
- Experience with natural and complex political emergencies in diverse cultural and climatic settings.
- Experience of applying humanitarian accountability standards.
- Experience in liaison with a broad range of stakeholders, ability to build relationships and networks with international donors, UN agencies and INGOs, national authorities, national/local partner agencies and emergency affected communities.
- Computer skills, including internet navigation, and various office applications.
