World Vision (WV) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Commodities Manager in Maputo City, Mozambique. The duration for the post is of more than 2 years.
The Commodities Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the management of commodities which are used in the provision of a daily nutritious school meal.

Key Jobs Responsibility
The Commodities Manager will perform the following functions-
- Ensure that all commodities staff has clear Job Descriptions, Annual Performance Agreements, and that performance evaluations are conducted every 6 months.
- Hold regular staff meetings to ensure that all staff has clear objectives, and that issues impacting project implementation can be quickly raised and addressed.
- Identify capacity gaps among commodities staff; develop and implement capacity building approaches to address these gaps to ensure effective team competency, particularly focusing on donor and organizational commodities management standards.
- Identify and prepare warehouses and final distribution points based on the working areas of the project.
- Develop monthly distribution plans.
- Conduct pipeline analysis to ensure sufficient commodities are available for monthly requirements.
- Review and update commodities flow charts to ensure that necessary actions are planned for and understood.
- Oversee receipt of commodities, verifying quantities received and condition of commodities.
- Establish warehouses that meet organizational and donor standards; regularly monitor the condition and quantity of commodities in warehouses to ensure quality is maintained.
- Oversee transport of commodities to distribution points, verifying safety of transport to safeguard commodities.
- Oversee unloading and distribution of commodities, verifying that commodity standards are maintained during this process.
- Ensure that necessary documentation is completed at each stage of commodities management, to ensure that there is a clear paper trail for receipt, storage and usage of commodities.
- Oversee the utilization of commodities at schools; ensure that the schools are maintaining and submitting accurate attendance records, and that school volunteers are adequately trained to carry out school feeding.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject e.g. Management, Development, Accounting.
- Knowledge of WV’s food commodities standards and tracking system.
- Minimum of 7 years in project management in an international context, including at least 3 years in food aid programmes.
- Experience with USDA commodities grants is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; Portuguese is an advantage.
- Strong planning, budgeting and organizational skills.
- Strong knowledge of financial management and accounting principles.
- Ability to build and develop a team in commodities management; skills in capacity building are strongly preferred.
- Ability to relate well with a diverse group of stakeholders including local government, staff and community members.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel, or other similar software.
