Handicap International (HI) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Regional Coordinator Refugee Affairs in Nairobi, Kenya. The duration for the post is of 12 months.
HI is an independent charity working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster.
Key Jobs Responsibility
The Regional Coordinator Refugee Affairs will perform the following functions-
- Under the supervision of the Regional TUSK Program Director (based in Nairobi), the Regional Coordinator Refugee Affaires is responsible for ensuring implementation of operational long-term activities of HI in Dadaab and Kakuma refugee camps in Kenya, and a possible intervention at Nyarugusu Refugee Camp in Tanzania.
- Coordinates the different components of the operational long-term response (facilitation and coordination of disability mainstreaming and community-based rehabilitation activities) and is therefore responsible for the projects implementation and follow-up as well as internal and external coordination.
- Responsible for development projects and their different components, coordinating and supervising the different field teams in all refugee project sites and ensuring the qualitative and quantitative follow-up and management of the different activities.
- Responsible for the technical quality of the projects.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Experience on projects related to Protection, provision of social services, and rehabilitation/disability, ideally in insecure contexts.
- Strong experience of managing large teams (intercultural and multidisciplinary teams) including remote management.
- Proven experience in security management.
- Ability to live in difficult conditions (major security constraints, common compound with all staff, restricted movements and limited access to medical facilities).
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills.
- Good communication and listening skills.
- Capacity to negotiate and resolve conflicts.
- Training skills.
- Pro-active work style and proven stress coping skills.
- Ability to take initiative.
- Fluency in English.
