International Organization for Migration (IOM) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Regional Migration Environment and Climate Change Officer in Bangkok, Thailand. The duration for the post is of 1 year.
The Regional Migration Environment and Climate Change (MECC) Officer will act as a resource person for MECC; monitor and analyze trends; support project implementation and development, including review and analysis of projects and project reports; and develop partnerships related to MECC in the Asia-Pacific region.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Regional Migration Environment and Climate Change (MECC) Officer will perform the following functions-
- Act as a regional thematic resource person by providing capacity building, training, and general support to COs in the region. Contribute to building the capacities of IOM staff in the thematic area.
- In close coordination with HQs/MECC, review, track and propose to the RD the endorsement of project proposals developed by COs related to the thematic area to ensure consistency with the Organization’s standards.
- Assist COs to develop national and regional MECC project and programmes in coordination with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct desk research and take other actions to prepare background information to support the development of new project proposals.
- Coordinate with and provide regular updates to HQs/MECC, COs and other relevant units on MECC thematic issues.
- Disseminate donor updates and other new developments in the thematic area.
- Identify emerging issues relevant to the thematic area and contribute to the development of thematic reports. Monitor developments in the thematic area, in close collaboration with MECC in HQs.
- Develop ROAP MECC communication materials to highlight relevant projects and programmes in the region. Update these regularly based on new developments.
- Represent IOM in the region by actively participating in conferences, workshops and meetings related to the thematic area of expertise, as required by the Regional Director. Organize MECC related discussion meetings when appropriate.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree in Political Science, Economics, International Relations, Social Sciences or Development Studies, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
- University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in academic and/or publishing record on migration and/or environmental issues.
- Experience on issues of migration and climate change and/or environment in international organizations and/or governments, including experience in developing and implementing projects involving multiple countries in the Asia Pacific region.
- Experience and/or good knowledge in design and implementation of regional data collection and research initiatives in the Asia Pacific region with the focus on migration issues.
- Sound knowledge of international fora policy processes in the areas of migration and sustainable development.
- Experience in liaising with a wide range of partners and donors, including Diaspora organizations, private sector and local authorities.
- Knowledge of procedures for project development, management and reporting.
- Experience working in the region is an advantage.
- Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of other language(s) of the region is an advantage.
