United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Associate Programme Management Officer (Marine) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Associate Programme Management Officer will perform the following functions-
- Work closely with, and support the Programme Management Officer (Dugongs).
- Assist in the development and effective implementation of the Dugong MoU Secretariat’s work plan by:
- Gathering, compiling and assessing range state information.
- Coordinating and leasing with technical advisors and other experts to support Dugong MoU initiatives, including the GEF Dugong and Sea grass Conservation Project, other projects and workshops.
- Assist development, co-financing and project management of Dugong MoU small grant projects through:
- Development small grant projects.
- Undertaking development research.
- Preparation and monitoring budgets.
- Revising and tailoring standardize legal instruments.
- Monitoring the implementation of funded projects.
- Reviewing and drafting reports.
- Assist in the planning and servicing of various Dugong MoU related intergovernmental meetings and other intergovernmental meetings and workshops organized by CMS Office – Abu Dhabi.
- Assist in producing awareness raising material and other content for the Dugong MoU.
- Update the Dugong MoU website and coordinate the provision of related information technology services.
- Support the Office’s engagement in emerging policy areas to promote conservation and sustainable use of migratory marine species in the Northwest Indian Ocean region.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in conservation biology, environmental management, sustainable development, environmental economics or related area is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ progressive experience in conservation biology, environmental management, sustainable development, environmental economics or related areas in international, governmental, non-governmental or private sector settings is required.
- Working experience in marine biodiversity related areas is an added advantage.
- Fluency in oral and written English, required. English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
- Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of French or Arabic is desirable.
