Human Rights Watch (HRW) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Outreach Consultant in New York, United States.
The Outreach Consultant will report directly to the Associate Director, Audience Engagement in the Film Festival Division.
HRW defends the rights of people worldwide, and scrupulously investigates abuses, expose the facts widely, and pressure those with power to respect rights and secure justice.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Outreach Consultant will perform the following functions-
- Coordinate outreach to increase audience attendance at film screenings and events and strategize with both HRWFF and HRW staff and cinema partners on how to best reach new and varied audiences.
- Conduct research to identify potential community groups in NY that serve people of different ages and diverse backgrounds, university programs, cultural centers, single-issue organizations and other organizations who could promote the festival to their constituencies.
- Identify themes and interest areas within the content of films being shown and determine how to best promote films to relevant niche audiences throughout New York and the metropolitan area.
- Research the most relevant NY-based events listing websites and newsletters to promote the festival and raise visibility of both individual films and the festival.
- Provide social media content consulting services in support of the HRW Film Festival, New York, including.
- Drafting content for use on social media including tweets, Facebook posts.
- Writing text for newsletter updates to the HRWFF email list.
- Creating and updating campaign calendar.
- Monitoring social media activity and reporting results to festival team.
- Assisting with the writing/monitoring of Facebook ads for the festival.
- Providing content for social media feeds (trailers, images, customized shareable content).
- Managing delivery of photography/files from HRWFF events and screenings to ensure the photos are posted online in a timely fashion.
- Promoting compelling articles and press coverage of HRWFF films; and.
- Creating a detailed report on social media impressions, activity and best practices.
- Provide a final written outreach report detailing the scope of the outreach work including an evaluation for areas for improvement for the year ahead.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A relevant bachelor’s degree is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
- Demonstrated experience in promoting arts and cultural events and creating content for social media campaigns is required.
- Demonstrated understanding of and passion for film and human rights is required.
- Knowledge of existing New York-based community organizations and arts/cultural groups is required.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent written and spoken English are required.
- Exceptional computer literacy skills are required; HTML and Adobe Photoshop skills are desirable.
