TechnoServe is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Program Development Manager in Johannesburg, Harare and Maputo.
The Program Development Manager will lead the design of new programs that will increase the impact in TechnoServe’s West and Southern Africa division.
TechnoServe works with enterprising people in the developing world to build competitive farms, businesses and industries.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Program Development Manager will perform the following functions-
- Actively identify and assess new opportunities: This includes performing in-depth donor and industry scans, proposal due diligence and mini-ISPs.
- Increase Revenues to Support Impactful Economic Development Strategies: Create and strengthen relationships with public and private donors; liaise with public sector funding agencies, institutional foundations, corporations and other private donors to acquire and maintain an in-depth knowledge about their mission, organization, policies, procedures and key decision-makers; provide leadership to the regional team and Country Directors in the design and implementation of comprehensive fundraising strategies and annual plans with specific targets.
- Create Winning Proposals: Serve as Proposal Manager and support Senior PD Manager to develop winning proposals in collaboration with local teams and TechnoServe regional program development staff, including coordinating the proposal process, leading research and design for proposal planning, writing of the proposal and supporting the development of budgets and recruiting of candidates.
- Build Internal Capacity in New Business Development: In addition to leading and / or supporting new business development, the PD Manager will work with the Senior PD Manager and country teams to strengthen their capacity to fundraise; develop the capacity of local staff and teams to independently design high impact value chain interventions, develop viable concepts for target donors, and develop and write strong proposals.
- Monitor proposal development best practice and quality assurance at country level; evaluate internal proposals; and disseminate best practices.
- Provide research, administrative, and logistical support to new business efforts at a variety of stages.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- S. or B.A. degree in business administration, economics, development or related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-graduate experience in analytical and strategic roles within the private sector and/or development spheres.
- Proven track record in successful business or program development design.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills in a multi-cultural environment.
- Ability to work on short-term assignments with tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to work independently, and function effectively as a member of a global team, and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Willingness to travel regionally and internationally up to 40% of the time.
- Work experience and knowledge of the economic, social and development context in Sub-Saharan Africa.
