Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Travel Assistant in Beirut, Lebanon.
ESCWA provides a framework for the formulation and harmonization of sectoral policies for member countries, a platform for congress and coordination, a home for expertise and knowledge, and an information observatory.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Travel Assistant performs the following functions-
- Calculates and verifies airfare, excess baggage entitlements, terminal expenses, daily subsistence allowance for staff and dependents traveling on missions, etc.
- Processes and approves different types of Travel Requests or adjust company expenses in Expenses Reports (e.g. official travel, HR and Entitlement travel), and establishes lump sum entitlement.
- Provides information to staff and consultants on the most direct and economical route, and plans routings and itineraries plus the most economical airfare rates for such travel as permitted by the rules and regulations.
- Contacts airlines or travel agency to make reservations at least expensive fares, and requests issuance of tickets.
- Reviews travel requests and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, reasonableness, validity, and conformity with UN Rules.
- Advises substantive offices, travelers, and other relevant staff of arrival information, requesting arrangements to be made accordingly for traveler.
- Performs other duties as required.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in travel administration, including travel rate construction, routing, and travel reimbursement, or related area.
- Professional experience is required.
- UN experience is desirable.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is required. English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. Arabic is also a working language of ESCWA.
