The World Bank Group (WBG) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Financial Analyst in Chennai, India.
The Financial Analyst will have responsibilities for specific individual tasks/projects as well as for working as an integral part of the team in executing TRO’s work program, while maintaining close relationships with the other Treasury departments.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Financial Analyst will perform the following functions-
- Prepare financial reporting deliverables for IBRD’s quarterly and annual reporting as per applicable US GAAP pronouncements.
- Track and interpret various accounting standards and assess their applicability to the function at hand, including implementation of the applicable standard.
- Perform fair valuation and leveling of portfolio for all three plans including validating NAV/performance with internal performance records and incorporating observations while performing analytical review for Pension Plan.
- Assist in ensuring delivery of a smooth year-end reporting from Chennai, including preparation and review of working papers, footnotes and financial statements as per applicable IFRS and US GAAP pronouncements, using COGNOS application to produce annual report/executive director’s report.
- Review and pass necessary entries to reflect true and fair value of Pension’s Alternative Investments’ portfolio in Financial Statements.
- Assist headquarters in the year-end audit of the pension plans review and supervise the work of junior staff to ensure all TROMC Chennai team’s deliverables and reporting requirements are promptly and accurately met.
- Assist in a variety of tasks within the multi-asset class management business in the areas of operations, accounting, management reporting, valuation control, and performance analytics.
- Ensure that all business processes in the unit are properly documented and complied with; and.
- Communicate effectively with TRO staff and management both in Chennai and in Washington, D.C. headquarters on the status of all assigned activities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with professional accounting designation such as, CA or CPA is required. Having CFA / CAIA charter will be an added advantage.
- 5 -7 years of relevant work experience required in asset management, fund administration or back and middle office of a Financial Institution or a Business Process Outsourcing Unit (BPO) supporting operations of international investment portfolios. Experience in fund accounting is desirable.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including hands-on experience in advanced Excel with an ability to write complex formulas are a must. Familiarity with writing macros will be a plus.
- Ability to deal with various third parties such as custodians, fund administrators, investment managers, general partners etc. to obtain information.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills – both verbal and written.
- High level of initiative, self-confidence and a self-starter; ability to apply a practical matured approach to problem solving with minimum supervision.

- Flexibility to overlap with US hours will be required to meet reporting deadlines along with willingness to travel to Washington DC for training and team projects.
