United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Project Manager in Manila, Philippines. The duration for the post is of 1 year.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the production of the Project Initiation Documents (PID) and subsequent management of all required systems and procedures needed to ensure the project is delivered in line with expectations.
UNOPS mission is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Project Manager will perform the following functions-
- Establish solid working relationship with the Project Board (Executive, Senior Users and Senior Suppliers), the Technical Working Group, clients and key stakeholders.
- Manage communications and ensure stakeholders are aware of project activities, progress, exceptions and are in a position to accept handover products.
- Advise the client on issues that may impact the achievement of their outcomes (including issues of sustainability and post project requirements such as maintenance).
- Manage the information flows between the Project Board/OC Director and the project.
- Implement approved project plans (including the establishment of milestones) within tolerances set by the project board.
- Manage the overall delivery of the works, taking responsibility for overall progress and use of resources and initiating corrective action where necessary.
- Liaise with and manage where appropriate external suppliers / subcontractors.
- Authorize Work Packages.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or Architectural, or other relevant discipline.
- An additional 2 years of relevant work experience in combination with a relevant first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) may substitute for the requirement for a Master’s degree.
- PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification or equivalent – preferred.
- Complete the UNOPS Project Management Foundation course (within one year after signing this TOR).
- Experience in managing projects in the international development field is required.
- 10 years minimum progressively responsible professional experience within multi storey building projects, 5 of which at Project Manager Level.
- Experience in the delivery of projects that specifically relate to medical facilities is desirable.
- Experience in the South East Asian Region is desirable.
- Experience in project and team management and skills development.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
