International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Senior Programme Officer in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The duration for the post is of 24 months.
The Senior Programme Officer will be responsible for Programme development, Project/Programmes implementation for the Bangladesh Country Office of IUCN.
IUCN’s mission is to influence, encourage and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Senior Programme Officer will perform the following functions-
- Play a leadership in the continued growth of the organization by designing and implementing projects under thematic areas and in the light of IUCN’s Inter-sectional Plans.
- Work closely with the IUCN Bangladesh Programme Development Unit (PDU) in developing projects.
- Under the supervision of Programme Coordinator, assist with the direction, management and coordination of overall programme activities.
- Manage and have oversight of relevant on-going projects and the other relevant projects as per the ABC list of IUCN.
- Effectively contribute to implementing IUCN’s ‘One Programme’ approach.
- Be the focal point in the Bangladesh Office for interaction with respect to areas in the line with IUCN’s thematic areas, programme areas and Commissions.
- Support the organizational restructuring and systems development needed to manage a growing programme.
- Ensure IUCN’s brand and image are properly presented and maintained in all activities, forums and areas while developing and managing the country programme.
- Develop and manage networks, and attend meetings and workshops related to the Country Programme.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Programme Coordinator and the Country Representative of IUCN Bangladesh.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Masters in Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or other relevant disciplines.
- 15 years’ professional experience, of which 10 years are in the senior managerial position and relevant to the terms of reference.
- Good presentation, writing and spoken communication skills in English are essential.
