International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Finance Assistant in Brussels, Belgium. The duration for the post is of 12 months.
The Finance Assistant will support the everyday running of accounting and financial operations of the IUCN Regional Office for Europe in Brussels (EURO).
IUCN’s mission is to influence, encourage and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Finance Assistant will perform the following functions-
- Accounts payable.
- Accounts receivable.
- Intercompany transactions.
- Bank and petty cash.
- End of month/end of the year adjustments.
- Master data updates.
- Assistance in tax reporting and statutory annual audit.
- Support in respect of financial planning, budgeting and financial administration.
- Payments using electronic banking system.
- Monitoring short-term cash-flow situation.
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls according to IUCN policies.
- Providing support to staff in using ERP administrative portals.
- Maintaining projects documentation, including donor contracts, budgets and reports.
- Assisting project staff in financial queries.
- Supporting Head of Finance Europe in monitoring projects financial implementation and donor reporting.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Background in accounting received in Belgium, knowledge of BE GAAP.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience in accounting in an international environment.
- Sound knowledge of EU funding procedures.
- Fluency in English and French or Dutch.
- Proficiency and skills in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Flexibility and have a dynamic personality, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Very well organized person with an eye for detail.
- Prior work experience with NAVISION software.
- Knowledge/experience of an ERP system.
- Familiarity/hands on experience with applying for, managing and reporting for EC grants.
