Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Nepal Green Growth Capacity Development Specialist in Nepal.
GGGI is dedicated to supporting the transition of GGGI Member countries towards a green growth model by developing and implementing strategies that simultaneously achieve poverty reduction, social inclusion, environmental sustainability and economic growth.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Nepal Green Growth Capacity Development Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Needs Assessment: Conduct needs assessment and baseline measurement for A) Green growth knowledge needs of high-level policy makers and B) Implementation capacity needs of key stakeholders.
- Understand the exact need of the governmental officials/institutions in regard to capacity building, and also to understand their current level of capacity pertinent to implementation.
- Work plan Establishment: Refine the work plan for capacity building activities, and frequency of trainings/workshops (targets).
- High-level Workshop: Facilitate, organize and conduct a workshop for policy makers on green growth and best practices. Also lead and develop the training materials in close coordination with other GGGI staff (HQ and local).
- Knowledge Exchange Visit: Coordinate and facilitate the participation of 1-2 high level policy makers in GGGI international capacity development opportunities to improve their green growth knowledge. This is to build the capacity of key policy makers, and to sustain and deliver the knowledge gained to other stakeholders.
- Implementation Workshop: Prepare materials, facilitate and conduct green growth implementation capacity building related to the green growth implementation of the 14th seven-year periodic development plan of the Government of Nepal.
- Wrap-up Report: Identify potential capacity building and knowledge sharing opportunities for green growth projects in future – the next biennium program (2017-2018).
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Minimum of Master’s degree in economics, political science, international relations, environment, etc. preferably with an emphasis in the Nepal context.
- At least five years of substantive experience in Nepal with national level capacity building activities and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated experience preparing materials for trainings and workshops, facilitate organizing workshops, and coordinating with the potential participants.
- Extensive experience in green growth related research and policy-level analysis.
- Strong communication, analytical and writing skills.
- Knowledge and experience of working with high-level Government of Nepal officials as part of a development institution, government or non-government organization.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English is a requirement.
- Knowledge of a local language in Nepal would be an advantage.
