Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Head of Finance in India.
The Head of Finance will be responsible for the management of the areas financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and performance monitoring and risk management.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Head of Finance will perform the following functions-
- Work closely with the Head of Academy and the Senior Leadership Team on all financial matters, pertaining to the effective running and management of the Academy, including keeping them abreast of any relevant changes to statutory and financial regulations.
- Manage the systems to ensure the integrity of the financial data and reporting as well as adherence to financial best practices.
- Fully utilize the accounting system for monthly closing and financial reporting on a timely basis.
- Track financial performance against budget and provide variance and trend analysis, along with other management reports, as per the reporting schedule prepared by the Academies Unit.
- Provide leadership in developing benchmarks, both from internal and external sources, for management and evaluation purposes.
- Utilize the fixed assets register and provide necessary support and analysis for capital expenditures.
- Manage treasury, AR and AP functions to optimize cash flow and working capital.
- Identify and set up processes to obtain exemptions in accordance with the protocol between the AKDN agency and the Government of India.
- Ensure the safekeeping of contractual and other legal documents and records.
- Maintain an effective service culture within the finance department.
- Lead and develop the Finance Team, and ensure that the team is motivated and clear on the annual priorities and deliverables.
- Undertake such other duties as may be required by the Head of Academy or the Academies Unit.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A degree in Business, Finance or Accounting or a comparable professional qualification with a minimum of 10 years of experience, of which 5 years must be in the management and leadership role of a finance and accounting department of an operating unit.
- A Master’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting is desirable.
- Experience in an educational setting is desirable.
- Competence and a demonstrated track record in the use of computerized systems, including financial software applications, are required.
- Exceptional oral and written English communications skills.
- A proven record of building and sustaining relationships with all levels of staff.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, both within the academy and also as part of the wider Finance teams across the other academies and the Academies Unit.
- A strong work ethic, with attention to detail, while retaining a flexible approach to problem solving.
- Capability to be highly organized, resilient, set priorities and keep to deadlines.
- A high level of integrity needed to handle fiscal responsibilities and confidential information.
- A proven record of leading a team effectively, and building the capacity of the team to keep raising their standards as well as the institution.
- Ability to work within a matrix environment effectively, and within different local and cultural settings.
