The World Bank Group (WBG) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Health Specialist in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
The Health Specialist will be expected to play a key role in supporting the World Bank’s program in the health sector as described above, especially the activities related to RBF and the Impact Evaluation associated with it.
WBG has set two ambitious goals to push extreme poverty to no more 3 percent by 2030, and to promote shared prosperity and greater equity in the developing world.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Health Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Provide technical inputs as a health specialist in support of implementation of the Improving Maternal and Child Health through Integrated Social Services Project, especially its RBF stream.
- Provide technical inputs for the Impact Evaluation exercise for the RBF program, including the baseline and follow-up surveys to be conducted for this exercise.
- Provide technical inputs as a health specialist for the various health systems strengthening activities supported by the World Bank in Haiti, especially those related to RBF.
- Be the “go-to person” for the project in Haiti (especially its RBF stream) and help ensure close coordination between the different actors involved, including key Government entities as well as donor agencies.
- Help coordinate the activities of the Impact Evaluation exercise for the RBF program.
- Provide Technical Assistance to MSPP in the production of key technical as well as operational documents including those related to fiduciary issues.
- Provide support for the implementation of cholera activities and hold regular meetings with the National Cholera Coordination and technical team at UGP, which is implementing cholera activities.
- Support the dialogue with the Government and with key donor partners on relevant issues.
- Be pro-active in helping to identify and solve bottlenecks in implementation
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as Public Health, Health Policy or Medicine, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience when combined with Masters.
- Relevant experience in providing support for the implementation of development projects in the health sector and for in-country coordination including with donor partners.
- Relevant experience in health systems strengthening and on monitoring and evaluation (especially impact evaluation) activities.
- Experience working on Results-Based Financing would be an advantage.
- Ability to facilitate communication between various entities and to work independently in order to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of World Bank operational instruments, processes, procedures and systems would be an advantage.
- Excellent oral and writing skills in English and French. Skills in Creole would be an advantage.
- Ability to work well in multi-cultural environments, and to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to operate independently with minimal support from senior staff.
- Ability to effectively juggle multiple and often overlapping responsibilities.
