International Organization for Migration (IOM) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Operations Officer in Damak, Nepal. The duration of this post is 1 year.
The Operations Officer will be responsible and accountable for ensuring that refugees are transported in a safe and efficient manner to processing appointments and international departures according to schedules.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Operations Officer will perform the following functions-
- Liaise with the relevant units (such as RSC, including Cultural Orientation, and the Medical Health Department) and Operations and Transit Center officials in Kathmandu to determine refugee processing schedules, organize and coordinate ground transport to refugees between camps and the Damak processing site, and to organize and coordinate movements from refugee camps to Damak and Kathmandu prior to commercial flights to resettlement countries.
- Ensure timely logistical arrangement of buses during interviews, medical screenings, Cultural Orientation classes and departures of refugees, with particular emphasis on USRAP.
- Communicate and coordinate with IOM colleagues in Damak and Kathmandu as well as with other entities such as UNHCR, voluntary and governmental agencies and embassies to support the processing and implementation of all Operations aspects of resettlement activities within the refugee camps, and Damak.
- Consolidate the movement plan for all processing activities to maximize the efficiency of the ground transportation systems in line with various processes, as well as in line with the international resettlement movement plans as established by the Senior Operations Officer in Kathmandu.
- Coordinate and schedule air charter movements between Damak and Kathmandu in accordance with international departure plans, and oversee refugee departures from Damak to Kathmandu.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree in Political or Social Science, Business Administration, International Relations, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
- University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in air movement operations and travel planning.
- Knowledge of movement management standards and regulations, particularly in the field of US Refugee Admission Programme (USRAP).
- Experience working with transport providers, governmental and diplomatic authorities as well as with international organizations.
- Experience conducting USRAP resettlement activities is an advantage.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Working knowledge of Nepali is an advantage.
