DGAP’s EU-Middle East Forum (EUMEF), in cooperation with the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the Swedish Institute Alexandria and Istanbul Policy Center (IPC), is currently inviting applications from the young and mid-level professionals, for its upcoming Capacity Building Workshop on “Turkey and Egypt in 2025: Foreseeing Challenges and Opportunities” (Scenario Planning and Strategic Policy Analysis), which will take place in Istanbul on June 01 – 04, 2016.
Objectives
The objectives of the forum are:
- To analyze and generate knowledge about factors shaping developments in Egypt andTurkey in the mid-term
- To sensitize participants for current tendencies and possible future trajectories of relevant actors in Egypt and Turkey
- Capacity building in the fields of alternative, strategic, future oriented, and joined thinking, structured communication, and democratic discussion culture
- To connect young and mid-level professionals and multipliers from North Africa and the Middle East, Turkey, and Europe, who work on similar subjects
Benefits
The organizers will cover accommodation and provide for travel subsidies based on participants’ country of residence (maximum 250€ for participants travelling from the EU, 350€ for participants travelling from Egypt and 50€ for participants based in Turkey).
Eligibility Criteria
The invitees of the workshop are young and mid-level professionals (aged around 27-35) with at least two years of professional work experience in policy analysis or policy making in think tanks, academic research institutions, politics or civil society, with a focus on Turkey or Egypt. Participants should come from or currently reside in Turkey, Egypt, other countries of the MENA region, or the EU.
How to Apply
Applicants are required to submit an online application form along with their CV a short (approx. one page) outline of what is perceived to be the greatest challenges facing Turkey or Egypt in the next eight to ten years and what are the main concerns regarding the country’s future developments, as well as a short email outlining the motivation to participate in the capacity building workshop.
