The United Nations Trust Fund under its 14th grant cycle has announced the call for proposals to NGOs as well as other agencies to implement projects on elimination of violence against women around the world. There are two categories under which the fund would be made available for grantees. The Fund is based on the approaches of human rights and gender-responsiveness for promoting, protecting and fulfilling the human rights of women and girls, holistic and multi-sectoral responses that address women’s inter-related rights and focuse upon the poverty-affected groups and communities. Projects can focus upon prevention of gender-based violence, survivors’ access to justice, empowerment of women and addressing cases of rape in conflict-based situations among other issues. Proposed projects can be for a period of 2-3 years falling within the range of US $300,000 and $1 million.
NGOs need to apply for this funding to the UNIFEM sub-regional office in their own country. Submissions should include concept notes and the budget. The last date for submitting the applications is 17 April 2009. For more information, visit this link.
