While any nonprofit or NGO is eligible to apply for this funding opportunity, it is also given in the guidelines that country-specific proposals are not accepted directly by DFID’s head office. Local NGOs need to approach the country offices of DFID. Only organizations working in three or more countries can apply for this. Local NGOs can partner with international organizations and push forth to apply for this competition. Even a consortium of NGOs can apply for it. At the initial stage, only the Statement of Intent has to be submitted following which a detailed application will be sought. The last date for submitting the Statement of Intent is 18 May 2009.
