The Abbott Fund was established in 1951 by the global health care company Abbott. Based in Illinois (United States), the vision of The Abbott Fund is to create healthier communities throughout the world.

The mission of The Abbott Fund is to invest in ideas that promote science, expand access to health care, and strengthen communities throughout the world.
Its objectives:
The Abbott Fund expands access to health care services in region’s that have disadvantaged populations.
Geographic regions where funding is made available:
The Abbott Fund supports projects all over the world.
Previously funded projects:
- Funded the training for more than 20,000 health care workers in HIV care and treatment, voluntary counseling and testing, laboratory equipment operation, hospital information technology and hospital management in Tanzania.
- Donated one million rapid HIV tests to Tanzania’s national HIV testing campaign.
- Partnered with the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative to build a pediatric AIDS Center of Excellence in Tanzania. The purpose of this new Center is to train local health care workers as well as to expand access to pediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment across the country.
- Working with the Indiana University School of Medicine and several academic health centers located in North America, the Moi University School of Medicine, and the Moi Teaching and Research Hospital, the Abbott Fund launched AMPATH – Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare.
