Funded by the Volkswagen Foundation, the International Summer Research School is the program initiated by the Institute of Statistical Social and Economic Research (ISSER), Accra, Ghana and the Ruhr-University of Bochum of Germany. The school was founded to help young African economists in expanding their knowledge and skills. The school offers a wide range of courses about development and international economics. The school offers young economist opportunities to excel in their fields by providing them extensive training and research support.
Submission of Proposals
To enroll in the summer school, all participants have to submit a research proposal. The proposal should explain the main research question addressed, as well as an idea about the methodology employed and the expected outcome. Each researcher is allowed to submit one proposal only.
Courses Offered
During the first two weeks of the summer school (24 October to 4 November 2011), the following courses will be offered:
– Advanced Development Economics
– Public Sector Economics in Developing Countries
– Evaluation of Development Programmes
– Advanced International Trade
– Panel Data Analysis
– Time-Series Analysis
– Introduction to STATA
Eligible Participants
Doctoral students and young post-docs in economics. Advanced Master students with an outstanding record may be considered as well, but preference will be given to PhD students and post-docs. Please note that the main target group is African researchers working/studying at institutions and universities in sub-Saharan African countries.
