The African Water Facility (AWF) is accepting proposals from government, non-government organizations and institutions for the grant program on water resources development activities in Africa. The major aim of the grant program is to mobilize resources to finance water resources development activities in Africa.
There is no deadline for the proposal submission. The AWF team of experts assesses the received funding requests throughout the year and transmits its evaluation and decision in due course. The proposed project should be in between EUR 50,000 and EUR 5,000,000.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Regional member countries of the African Development Bank (ADB), political subdivisions or agencies working within these countries, or regional agencies or institutions concerned with water resource development in Africa are eligible to apply for AWF grants.
- The applicant organization must be government or regional institutions – Central or local African Governments; African municipalities; NGOs and CSOs; Community-based organizations CBOs; and Regional, sub-regional and sectoral organizations (e.g. Regional Economic Organizations, River Basin Organizations etc.); or Africa-based (or with partnership with African institution) NGO and Civil Societies.
- The proposed project must meet one of the AWF strategic pillars – Preparation of investment projects and associated facilitation of up-scaling and tangible financial mobilization; Enhancement of water governance; and Promotion of water knowledge uptake and practical use of acquired knowledge.
- The proposed project must have good expected outcomes and clear targets.
