African professional journalists are invited to enter story for the Cable News Network (CNN) MultiChoice African Journalist Awards 2014. This is an opportunity to participate in the Gala Awards Ceremony, the program of networking activities and workshops. The entrants can be employed or freelancers who have produced a story which has been made available as a printed publication or broadcast through an electronic medium (television; radio or digital platform) whose primary audience are based in Africa.
Eligibility Criteria
- Entrant must be an African national at least 18 years of age.
- Journalists that have been winners in this competition on three or more occasions are not eligible to enter.
- Employees and their immediate families of Turner Broadcasting System Europe Ltd., (TBSEL), and their respective parent companies, group companies, subsidiary companies and agencies are not eligible to participate in the competition.
- Each entry must have been first published or broadcast in African media in 2013. Proof of publication must be submitted with the entry. Images that are available for download on agency websites and have not appeared in African media are not be eligible.
- The Competition is held in English, French and Portuguese languages. Entries in other languages are accepted however must be accompanied by full English translation; subtitles or transcript.
- Applicants are strictly limited to a maximum of two entries across all categories of the Competition.
- The entry (story) must demonstrate journalistic integrity and resourcefulness. The story must be communicated in such a way that makes the topic accessible and relevant to their audience.
- The entry must display well organized research and insight.
