Applications are invited for a single scholarship to be awarded in 2012-13 for an MSc in African Studies. The scholarship is made available with the help of the Waverley Fund in collaboration with African Studies Centre.
The Waverley Fund was established in 2001. The main purpose of setting the fund was to assist students who have shown their brilliance in the academic field, but have trouble pursuing their career, due to weak economic background.
The African Studies Centre was initiated in October 2004. It has proved to be a centre of excellence and every year academically outstanding students join it. The Centre is a part of the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies (SIAS), which is a department in the Social Sciences Division at the Oxford University.
Candidates who wish to start an MSc in African Studies are eligible to apply. Deferred students are not eligible.
In order to be eligible, applicants must be ordinarily residents in the sub-Saharan Africa, and they must intend to return to their home country at the end of their studies. Only students who have received outstanding academic results will be considered for the scholarship.
The scholarship will cover 100% of university and college fees, and a grant for living expenses of £13,590 per annum (including return flights).
The last date for submitting the application is 20 January, 2012.
