Mo Ibrahim Foundation offers funding opportunity for Governance for Development in Africa(GDAI) PhD Scholarship program at School of Oriental and African Studies(SOAS).
The scholarship is on a part present form and it provides for Fees for three years, and for accommodation and living cost for the first year only. Foundation expect students to be on fieldwork during the second year, and to write the thesis in the third year in their country of origins. They provide part of subsistence cost for the second and third year, but not accommodation cost.
Eligibility–
- Domicile/Residency: Applicants must be domiciled (or permanent residents) in an African country. Preference will be given to scholarship candidates living in SubSaharan Africa.
- Eligible Programmes: PhD Programme (Full-time) Research undertaken by scholarship applicants must directly address or be applicable to the issue of Governance in Africa.
- Assessment: Scholarship candidates will be assessed based on their intended research, academic merit and references. SOAS is committed to accepting only those scholarship candidates who can demonstrate an ability to complete a PhD within three, or at most, four years.

- Please enclose a comprehensive CV with the application. CVs should be no longer than two, one-sided A4 pages.
- Please briefly outline intended research and how it is relevant to the Mo Ibrahim Foundation Scholarship scheme of Governance in Africa. Supporting statements must be no longer than two, one-sided A4 pages.
