The US Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) is seeking applications for International Sports Programming Initiative (ISPI). Sports Grant programs can be an important tool for advancing foreign policy goals and connecting with audiences with whom traditional diplomacy proves challenging, including at-risk youth, women, minorities, people with disabilities, and non-English speakers.

Eligibility Information
- Applications must be submitted by public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3).
- Grants awarded to eligible organizations with less than four years of experience in conducting international exchange programs will be limited to $130,000.
- Applicants may not submit more than one (1) proposal for this competition.
- The focus of all programs must be on both male and female youth and/or their coaches/sports administrators.
- Programs designed to train elite athletes or coaches are ineligible.
Focus Countries and Territories
Africa: Botswana, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia (one-way exchange to Ethiopia), Kenya (one-way exchange to the U.S.), Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda;
East Asia and the Pacific: Laos, Mongolia, New Zealand (focused on Māori Populations), People’s Republic of China, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam;
Europe and Eurasia: Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine;
Near East and North Africa: Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. NOTE: Proposals for the following NEA eligible countries MUST focus on Sport and Health as the main eligible theme: Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates;
South and Central Asia: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan;
Western Hemisphere: Barbados, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
