The Livelihoods Funds supports the efforts of poor rural communities in developing countries to restore their natural ecosystem which improves their food security and economic revenues, and livelihoods. The Livelihoods Fund is the leading carbon offsetting fund dedicated to food security and small rural communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
The Livelihoods Fund invests in three types of projects: agroforestry, mangrove restoration, and rural energy during an investment period of 3 to 4 years. The Livelihoods Fund is supported by reputable and socially-responsible private sector companies committed to reducing their environmental footprint.
Livelihoods seek to make an impact beyond the scope of the projects directly financed by the fund. Livelihoods Network’s mission is to meet these requirements by doing the following for its members:
- Building a community where members can pool their skills and capitalize on best practices;
- Offering support to current and future Livelihoods Fund projects, in order to improve their effectiveness and long-term sustainability;
- Promoting innovation in key areas of interest to the Livelihoods Fund;
- Developing an active and dynamic network for debate, dialogue, and knowledge-sharing.
