The African Grant-makers Network (AGN) invites nominations of individuals and organizations for 2014 African Philanthropy Awards at the AGN Assembly to be held from 17 to 19 November 2014 in Accra, Ghana. Individuals or organizations demonstrating transparency and good governance in their philanthropic practice, and attentive to local needs and realities can be the nominee for the award.
The African Philanthropy Awards recognizes African philanthropic initiatives that are innovative and fresh, that go beyond traditional models of giving, and that offer a sign of the future of African philanthropy.
Theme: Philanthropy in Africa 2014: People, Policy and Practice
The AGN is also accepting workshop proposals for the breakaway sessions. The proposal can be made for case studies, debates, research and knowledge sharing at community and policy levels in Africa.

- 29 August 2014 – Deadline for proposal submission for Breakaway Session
Eligibility Criteria
- Nominee can be any individual and any private or public organization or institution that does philanthropic work in Africa.
- Nominee must demonstrate excellence & innovation in philanthropic practice; genuine partnership with local, national and international communities; tangible commitment to lasting and institutional change; and a vision of African agency and self determination.
- The workshop proposal should showcase cutting edge innovation and practice that will unearth new knowledge and generate fundamental questions and dialogue on the understanding of philanthropy in Africa.
- The workshop proposal must provide the following information in the form – workshop title, objective, description, context of proposed workshop, workshop format including proposed speakers, and workshop outcomes.
