The Organization for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa (OSSREA) in support with DANIDA calls for abstracts for a book project on “Inclusive Growth and Development; Challenges and Opportunities in Eastern and Southern Africa”. OSSREA will grant a lump sum amount of $2,525 USD per book chapter.
Scope of Call
This call is to boost single country, single sector or comparative case studies across more than one countries which indicates
- economic growth trends and their link with poverty reduction at country level,
- the balance between investment policies and the need for social protection and decent work,
- whether there is an actual increase in the size of the middle class and whether that reflects progress towards inclusive development,
- policies aimed at inclusive growth and the level of their implementation and performance,
- land deals and transfers and their impact on livelihoods and inclusive growth;
- other factors that enhance or impinge upon efforts to achieve growth with equity and social cohesion,
- sector analysis of policies in those sectors and how they impact on inclusive or exclusive growth.
The Organization for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa (OSSREA) is a regional membership-based and donor-supported research and capacity-building organization whose mission is to promote dialogue and interaction between researchers and policy-makers in Eastern and Southern Africa.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants should be nationals or residents of countries in Eastern and Southern Africa and should be affiliated with an institution based in a country in Eastern and Southern Africa.
- Applicants should hold at least a Masters Degree in the social sciences or related fields from an accredited institution.

Applicants should submit following documents:
- Current curriculum vitae including occupation, gender, level of education, nationality, experience and contact address (P.O. Box, phone and e mail). The CV should not exceed 3 pages A4 pages single spaced in Times Roman 12 font size. Only relevant publications should be indicated.
- Co authored abstracts are accepted provided the authors fulfill the eligibility criteria indicated above.
- Abstracts should not exceed one page (12 font size and single spaced) in pdf.
