Applications are invited to participate in International Training Programme in Strategies for Chemicals Management to avoid harmful effects on health and environment due to exposure to chemicals. The total duration of the programme is approximately 8 months (phase 1–4) out of which 4½ weeks are scheduled sessions.
The programme’s focus is on basic elements. The following topics will be covered in the programme: legislation, enforcement, chemicals management in practice (roles and responsibilities), data on current situation and trends in use of chemicals, awareness, hazard assessment, exposure, risk assessment and methods for risk management. Relations between preventive chemicals control and areas such as pollution control, occupational safety and health, waste management, trade and product development will also be addressed.
The overall objective of the programme is to provide relevant governmental officials with information, education, training, principles and tools for chemicals management, in order to assist them in the development of national strategies for chemicals management and sustainable development, Also persons from other relevant organisations may attend the programme, depending on the number of applications.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- Only candidates nominated by the nominated by appropriate organization and in accordance with local rules will be accepted.
- Candidates should fulfill professional and academic requirements and be qualified to participate in reform processes of strategic importance on different levels and hold a position in ministries or authorities with a mandate to run processes of change. They should be well acquainted with the conditions at the levels where chemicals are handled and authorized to develop or continue a process of change in their home country, according to the objective of the programme. They should have a relevant university degree, preferably in technical or natural sciences, or other relevant education.
- Participation in all parts of the programme by the same individual is mandatory. The number of participants is limited to 25 in order to ensure a close working relationship between participants and lectures, mentores.
- Participation of two persons from the same organisation will be considered as an advantage.
- Both qualified men and women are encouraged to apply, since gender balance in the group is relevant for the results of the programme.
- Please note, that due to the character of the programme, family members are not allowed to accompany programme participants.
How to apply?
- Application should be written on the special form and include a recent photograph, required information and documents.
- Application in original with required signatures and attachments should be submitted to the nearest Swedish Embassy/ Consulate. If there is no appropriate Swedish Embassy/Consulate in their country, the application should be submitted directly to Program Secretariat.
- Only candidates in accordance with national rules will be considered.
- Applications submitted after closing date and incomplete applications might not be considered.
