The Working to Advance STEM Education for African Women (WAAW) Foundation aimed at increasing the participation of African girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related disciplines, and ensuring that this talent is engaged in African innovation is accepting scholarship applications from the need-based female African students admitted to a University, College or institute of higher learning in Africa. The WAAW Foundation scholarship is offered to needy full time students in STEM related course in an African University.
Scholarship recipients will be awarded $500 for one academic year. They can reapply for renewal the next year if they can demonstrate excellent academic performance.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be female students of African origin, living and studying in Africa.
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in undergraduate B.S. degree program.
- Applicants must be studying STEM related courses in a University or college in Africa.
- Applicants must have demonstrable financial need and excellent academic record.
- Applicants must be below the age of 32 years and her graduation date must be after December of the award year.
- Applicants who do not meet the above mentioned criteria are automatically deleted.
- Prior scholarship recipients may reapply for renewal the following year, with proof of continued excellent academic performance.
Note: Applications must be submitted via online application system. Successful application includes the personal and contact information, educational and family information, reason for the need of scholarships fund, impressive response to essay questions and two academic/professional references.
