The Eurasian Center for Food Security (ECFS) under Lomonosov Moscow State University invites international and Russian researchers interested to visit ECFS and international institutions respectively, to submit concept notes.
The ECFS aims to enhance agricultural performance in the Eurasia Region and to ensure the sustainability of rural development and natural resource management through the provision of analytically based (policy and technical) recommendations and associated technical assistance, with the overarching goal of increasing Russia’s contribution to global food security.
The grant proposal can be made to undertake collaborative research in the following priority thematic areas
For international experts proposing to visit ECFS
- Applied economic modeling for food security
- Digital soil mapping for land assessment and conservation
For Russian experts proposing to visit international institutions
- Applied economic modeling and analysis on climate change and its impact on agriculture and food security
- Approaches to soil salinity control

- 12 December 2014 – Concept Paper submission deadline
- 20 January 2015 – Selection and notification to the short-listed candidates
- 30 January 2015 – Finalization of terms of reference
- 30 May 2015 – Completion of Research program
- 25 June 2015 – Output submission of field research
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants can be individual researchers working on food security issues of relevance to the Eurasian Region with a specific focus on Central Asia and Armenia.
- For International experts/researchers to conduct research at ECFS, preference may be given to those from institutions currently collaborating with ECFS and experts/researchers actively engaged in research in one of the thematic areas.
- For Russian experts/researchers submitting proposals, preference will be given to those planning to undertake research at a research institution located in the four ECFS focus countries in Central Asia and Armenia. Russian experts/researchers must submit a Letter of Invitation/Acceptance from the host institution with their Concept Note.
- Experts/researchers selected for travel support are expected to complete their travel by 30 May 2015.
- Experts/researchers submitting Concept Notes may not be close relatives of World Bank Group and ECFS staff members.
