CRDS is a registered voluntary organization. It is the official social service society of the Diocese of Chengalpattu. The area of operation of Chengalpattu Rural Development Society is whole Kanchipuram district consisting of 13 blocks. The underdeveloped situation of the affected has motivated CRDS to organize the people for their development and empowerment.

AIM & OBJECTIVES
• To promote integrated human development, particularly of the socially and economically weaker sections, without distinction of caste, creed or colour, through the best methods available.
• To help the socially and economically disadvantaged groups, the landless, small and marginal farmers and other neglected sections of people to help themselves.
• To combat effectively human misery, unjust exploitation and mass poverty and strive to establish a just, human, responsible, participatory, peaceful; and prosperous Social order.
• To promote freedom of the oppressed, distressed and poverty-stricken groups of children, women, Dalits and tribes and others from social, economic and moral bondage and to assist them to regain their human dignity.
• To achieve these by planning and implementing community education, formation and leadership trainings and by promoting savings, economic development activities, health and environmental programs.
