Association of Citizens – Friends of nature “Eko element” was established in August 2008, with an aim to contribute to environmental development and improvements of local community, as well as to raise awareness on
• Protection of environment and cultural-historical heritage
• Promotion of culture of living
• Active participation of citizens/public in environmental issues and improvement of quality of life
• Promotion of healthy food and ecological materials and products
• Disposal and management of waste
• Strengthening of local authorities, business sector and NGOs in preservation of environment and fundraising for environmental projects.
The Association is nongovernmental, non-political and non-profit, welcoming all citizens with aim and aspiration to contribute to improvements of environment and preservation of flora and fauna. The basic principles of the Association are: tolerance, democracy, diversity, voluntarism, openness, amateurism. Through approach and principle of partnership, our work has become largly recognised in our community by local authorities, citizens, public institutions and media.
In the past period, the Association has prepared several of actions and projects:
“Green zones renovation in urban parts of Bugojno” – project supported by SIDA and REC
“Street lightening with saving bulbs” – pending approval
“Analysis of quality of water in Vrbas river” – pending approval,
“Bicycle paths” – project in preparation with Municipality of Bugojno
Global action “An Hour for our Planet“– 28/03/2009 in Bugojno.
As our association is rather young, activists take every opportunity to participate in various meetings and gatherings of enviromental/ecology groups
