Hope for Family Development Initiative (HFDI) was established in 2007 and registered with state and Corporate Affairs Commission Nigeria as a movement to improve the lives of single parent families. Hope for Family Development Initiative aims to restore hope to single parent families who have been devastated by divorce, separation, neglect or death, whatever the circumstances, HFDI believes that single parents and their children are faced with unique issues and challenges which require empowerment, skills training and greater community understanding for them to cope with their exceedingly difficult conditions.

devastated by divorce, separation or death through innovative programmes, strategies and project in Nigeria and beyond.
Specific Objectives
To reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development in families.
To take leading role in development of innovative integrated family health.
To partner with Governmental, Non Governmental Organizations, Donor agencies and Educational Institutions to initiate, implement and evaluate programmes.
To influence constructive legislation on Single Parenthood, Youths, Vulnerable Children, Gender Issues and Good Governance.
To orientate the community on the effect of Single Parenthood
The operational headquarter is located in Osogbo, Osun state, while our programmes cover Southwest, North central and South-South zones of Nigeria. We work with single parent families, young people, the poor and the marginalized with the view of promoting values and commitments for achieving a healthy and developed society
Our strategies
Entrepreneurial and Equipment : HFDI empower single parents through various vocational trainings and equipment support for self reliance and independent living of single parents in Nigeria.
Counseling: HFDI provides psycho-social support to target groups on how to cope with the devastating effect of single parenting.
Capacity Building: HFDI provide capacity building for single parents in order to enable them make good decisions that will help them live a meaningful life.
Media Advocacy: HFDI network and collaborate with the media organizations to create
awareness and sensitize the general public on the negative effect of stigmatization and economic disadvantage on single parents and their children.
Policy Advocacy: HFDI influence law makers on the enactment and enforcement of law that will safeguard the rights of young girls in order to reduce growing incidents of rape and other forms of sexual harassment that lead to single parenting most especially among teenagers who are female in Nigeria.
Outreaches: Conduct outreaches at grassroots level to support single parents creating awareness on their plights and need for support from the society.
Human Right: Investigate and follow up cases of abuses resulting in teenage pregnancy,
morbidity or mortality for adequate redress through legal means.

Poverty Alleviation programmes:
HFDI initiate Poverty Alleviation Programme (PAP) to empower single parents through various vocational trainings and equipment support for self reliance and independent living of single parents in Nigeria.
Integrated Health Development:
HFDI initiate Integrated Health Development Programme (IHDP) with the aim of alleviating the health problems of single parent families. High percentage of single parent families cannot afford to put good food on their table let alone getting good health care system for themselves.
Advocacy:
HFDI establish Advocacy programmes as a means of creating awareness on the negative impact of single parenthood in the community and activities of the organisation.
Youth Development Programme:
HFDI establish Youth Development Programme (YDP) with the aim of promoting youth
development most especially single parents’ children
