ACDI/VOCA is seeking applications from qualified and deserving candidates for the job/vacancy of Volunteer- Cherry Tomato Production Specialist, Egypt. Locations of this job will be based in Egypt.
The Egyptian Union of Producers and Exporters of Horticultural Crops (UPEHC) requests volunteer assistance to increase the efficiency and profitability of cherry tomato producers. The volunteer will provide recommendations on topics such as seedling production, water management, soil fertility management, plant disease and prevention, and post-harvest handling. The assignment will last for approximately two weeks in country, in addition to preparation and research previous to departure. Travel and living expenses are covered.
Qualifications:
- University degree in agriculture, horticulture, or another related degree.
- Ten years’ experience in cherry tomato production with a strong background in conducting trainings.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with MS Word and Powerpoint.
- The volunteer should be prepared to travel for long hours in a bad road network linking the farming communities in the region. He/she should also be prepared to live in these rural communities without internet, air-conditioning and other amenities. The volunteer must also be prepared to work under dry and hot weather conditions.
