Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Junior Economists in Paris, France. The duration for the post is of 1 – 3 year.
The Junior Economists will be to help with data and econometric analysis as well as the drafting of analytical reports and policy briefs on a wide range of economic topics.
The mission of OECD is to promote policies that will improve the Undertake research and contribute to the production of documents, working papers and publications, including drafting notes and preparing technical annexes.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Junior Economists will perform the following function-
- Carry out statistical and advance applied econometric work.
- Review documentation on a wide range of economic topics; survey economic research.
- Use and/or establish programs and procedures in various software packages to allow an econometric and statistical analysis, as well as the production of tables and graphs.
- Collect information and data from relevant sources for the purpose of compiling specific databases. Check the data to ensure reliability and comparability.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A Master’s degree in economics or econometrics. A PhD (or completion in 2016) would be a definite advantage.
- One to two years’ experience with economic statistics and advanced econometric techniques (including various time-series and panel data techniques) and/or with the development, use and estimation of applied economic models.
- Sound knowledge of macro- and microeconomics and related policy issues.
- An ability to distil policy implications from research work.
- Experience in using sectoral and micro data would be an advantage.
- International experience in research and analytical activities through studies, internships or professional activities would be an asset.
- Publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals would also be an asset.
- Very good proficiency in the use of econometric packages (such as Eviews, Stata or Matlab).
- Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and knowledge of the other, with a commitment to reach a good working level.
- Knowledge of other languages would be an asset.
